This polished Tiger’s Eye Sphere is carved from natural Tiger’s Eye, a metamorphic quartz known for its rich golden and bronze bands and remarkable optical effect known as chatoyancy—the silky flash of light that moves across the surface as the sphere is turned, resembling the eye of a cat.

The effect occurs when quartz gradually replaces aligned fibers of the mineral crocidolite while preserving their original structure, creating the shimmering bands that make Tiger’s Eye one of the world’s most recognizable ornamental stones.

Most commercial Tiger’s Eye is sourced from South Africa and Western Australia, where large deposits formed through ancient hydrothermal processes.
