Tiger's Eye Sphere

This polished sphere is carved from natural Tiger’s Eye, a metamorphic quartz known for its golden, fibrous bands and optical chatoyancy—the silky, shifting luster that resembles a cat’s eye. The effect is caused by light reflecting off aligned fibers of crocidolite that have been replaced by silica during the stone’s formation.

This sphere weighs 14 oz and measures 65 mm in diameter.
