his beautiful Brazilian Agate Slice was sourced from southern Brazil and showcases the incredible banding and crystal structures that make agate one of the world’s most recognizable minerals.
Measuring approximately 8 inches at its widest point and weighing 14 ounces, this collector specimen displays concentric layers of cream, white, caramel, and warm earth tones surrounding a softly translucent center.
Agate forms when silica-rich groundwater repeatedly flows through cavities left behind by volcanic activity. Over millions of years, microscopic layers of quartz are deposited one after another, creating the striking bands and patterns that make every agate slice unique.
Southern Brazil, particularly the state of Rio Grande do Sul, is one of the world’s most important sources of high-quality agate and amethyst. The region’s ancient basalt lava flows created the ideal conditions for these beautiful mineral formations to develop.
